Northwestern Medicine Field (formerly Kane County Events Park and Philip B. Elfstrom Stadium and Fifth Third Bank Ballpark) is a baseball stadium in Geneva, Illinois. The stadium, which seats 10,923 people, was built in 1991. It is the Kane County Cougars’ home ballpark. The stadium holds the most people of any independent league baseball stadium.
The stadium underwent a $10.5 million renovation project in 2008, including a second-level seating area, a covered concourse, and skybox suites. It was completed just before the start of the 2009 baseball season.
The Cougars announced in 2014 that additional capital improvements would be made in time for the 2015 baseball season, including a climate-controlled cage with a weight room and a video room, allowing Cougars and field staff access to develop and evaluate players. A high-definition video board, which will show promotions, highlights, and instant replays, is also being built, as is a premium seating area on the ballpark’s lower-seating bowl area. A pavilion will also be built, which will be used primarily for music on game days and events such as the Cougars’ Ballpark Concert Series and non-game-day events. These upcoming renovations are said to “modernize” Fifth Third Bank Ballpark while commemorating the stadium’s 25th anniversary.
